This is the most common method of lei making. The flowers are pierced lengthwise, through the center, using a long steel needle. The flowers are held together by a single string.

Early Hawaiians didn’t have steel needles, so they used a piece of the smooth round midrib of the coconut leaf or stems of flowers from native grasses. For string, they used fibers from the native olona shrub or the hala tree.

    I was super happy with our greeting! The leis were very fresh. And our greeter made it super memorable for my children. He went above and beyond with his welcome.

    This was a surprise for daughter and her husband for their honeymoon. I ordered these leis along with a bracelet and sign message. The sign included their names and a happy honeymoon message. They were very surprised because they weren’t expecting it. I requested the greeter to say it was from mom 🙂 My daughter sent me a picture of them with their sign. She said the greeter offered to take the photo which I thought was sweet.
